B&O BICYCLE TOUR SPONSORED BY HENDRICKS REGIONAL HEALTH
June 11, 2022 at Williams Park in Brownsburg! The 30th Annual B&O Bicycle Tour will showcase portions of the B&O Trail as well as scenic countryside. You can choose from 12-, 25-, 45- or 66-mile loops. After the ride, stick around for lunch and some live music.
COVID ~ The safety of riders and our volunteers is paramount. Our county health department does not require a COVID mitigation plan at this time. We encourage everyone to use common sense and to NOT attend if you are feeling sick or have been exposed to anybody who is. We are monitoring the state's COVID requirements and will implement a plan if required as the date of the event approaches.
WHERE ~ Beautiful Williams Park, 940 S Locust Ln, Brownsburg, Indiana.
START TIME ~ Sign-in begins at 7:30 AM on Saturday, June 11, 2022. There will be no mass start of riders at specified times. All riders can depart once they have completed their check-in, prepped their bikes and donned a helmet! Please note that our event is rain or shine. No refunds are given due to the weather.
WHAT’S FOR LUNCH ~ Listen to live music as you enjoy a fantastic lunch catered by Smokin' J's Barbecue immediately after the ride. New this year will be a black bean veggie burger option! Thank you to Aqua Systems for donating water, Piazza Produce for the fruit, and Eby-Brown for the snacks at the SAG stops.
SEE YOURSELF ON INSTAGRAM ~ During the ride, take pictures and post them on Instagram using #bobikeride. We hope to show pictures on a continuous loop throughout the day back at the starting venue. You can enjoy them as you eat lunch and listen to the music.
ENTRY FEES ~ Early bird registration fees are in effect through May 13th. Early bird adult riders pay $35 and young adult riders (13-18 years old) pay $25 with lunch included. As always, children 12 and under ride for free with lunch included! A lunch-only fee is available for non-riders for just $10. Starting May 14th, the regular fee for adults goes up to $40 and the regular fee for young adults (13-18 years old) goes up to $30. Please note that same day registration fees will be $50 for adults and $35 for young adults. Save money by registering on-line on or before June 10th!
DONATIONS ~ Consider giving a donation to the B&O Trail in addition to your ride entry fee or optionally cover the extra cost for the credit card processing fee. We are working to extend the trail to both the east and west and received a major grant in 2021 from Indiana’s Next Level Trails program. Local funds raised from generous folks like you enable expansion and ongoing maintenance of the trail. BOTA is an IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit, so your donations are tax deductible.
T-SHIRTS ~ Souvenir t-shirts are available to pre-registered riders for an extra cost. Scroll down to see what this year's graphic logo looks like. This year's shirt color is planned to be Heather Indigo (subject to availability). The ability to purchase a t-shirt online will end at midnight on June 4th. A very limited number of shirts will be available for purchase the day of the ride.
SPECIAL FEATURES OF RIDE ~ SAG vehicles will be roving the routes to assist with minor mechanical problems or fatigue. Routes are marked on the roads, but route maps are provided as a backup. Mechanics from Bicycle Garage Indy (BGI) will be on hand to answer mechanical questions and assist riders with pre-ride inspections. The first 300 riders to check-in will receive a souvenir water bottle. Riders will enjoy live music as they eat lunch from Smokin' J's Barbecue (10:30 AM to 3:00 PM). Lunch is included with registration.
ROUTE DESCRIPTIONS
Click the RESPECTIVE (MAP) links below to access the "Ride With GPS" planned route maps. Please note that these routes are subject to change at the time of the event due to unforeseen road closures or other safety concerns.
12 miles (MAP) — Ideal for beginning cyclists and families: an easy-going, flat ride; you will travel a few miles on the B&O Trail. After turning around at the CR 500E trail head, it returns via the same route. There is a refreshment stop at the Rotary shelter about halfway through the ride.
25 miles (MAP) — You will ride a few miles on the B&O Trail. You will then ride on county roads to the SAG stop at Maplewood. Enjoy refreshments and music before your return trip through the picturesque Hendricks County countryside. You re-enter the trail at the same spot you exited and return to Williams Park for lunch via CR 575E and Tilden St.
45 miles (MAP) — This route starts out the same as the 25-miler. After leaving the Maplewood SAG stop, continue west through scenic farmland and a couple of moderate hills to the SAG stop at McCloud Park. Your loop takes you back to the Maplewood SAG for a 2nd visit, then returns you to Williams Park for lunch via the B&O Trail.
66 miles (MAP) — This route starts out the same as the 25-miler. After leaving the Maplewood SAG stop, continue west through scenic farmland to the SAG stop McCloud Park and then on rolling hills into Putnam County for a SAG stop in Roachdale. Roachdale was the next stop on the B&O Railroad going west from North Salem. After leaving Roachdale, return through North Salem and a second visit to the Maplewood SAG stop before returning to Williams Park for lunch.
PARKING ~ Ample parking will be available at Williams Park. As always, watch for signs and parking attendants.
